Evan Rogister debuts Verdi’s Macbeth, November 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23, at Washington National Opera. This gripping adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy comes back to the WNO stage after a 17-year absence, directed by Brenna Corner. Written during Italy’s independence movement, Macbeth explores political corruption, tyrannical rule, and liberation of the people in vivid detail. Rogister leads a phenomenal cast, featuring Étienne Dupuis and Ewa Płonka as the power-hungry Macbeths, both making their role debuts, Kang Wang as Macduff, and Soloman Howard as Banquo.
