The Glyndebourne Festival launches its 2023 season this evening with a new production of Don Giovanni. Making his festival debut is conductor Evan Rogister, who directs the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Evan previously conducted Don Giovanni at Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as at the Washington National Opera, where he is Principal Conductor. In this role, as part of his commitment to fostering new work, next year Evan leads performances of WNO’s American Opera Initiative, featuring three premieres by emerging composers and librettists. He also conducts a new production of Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones at The Metropolitan Opera, co-directed by James Robinson and Camille A. Brown.
Before that, Evan returns to Dresden Semperoper for several performances of Die Zauberflöte.
