Evan Rogister makes his opera debut at Opernhaus Zürich this winter, conducting one of opera’s most heart-wrenching tragedies, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. It’s a welcome return to Zürich for Rogister, who debuted there with the Philharmonia Zürich earlier this year in a program of Wagner, Mozart, and Elgar, featuring soloists Viktoria Mullova and Nils Mönkemeyer.

Rogister leads an all-star cast in Ted Huffman’s acclaimed production, featuring Elena Guseva in the title role, with Siena Licht Miller as Suzuki and Stefan Pop as Pinkerton. Davide Luciano appears as Sharpless, joined by Martin Zysset (Goro), Stanislav Vorobyov (Bonze), Steffan Lloyd Owen (Yamadori/Registrar), and Flavia Stricker as Kate Pinkerton.

Madama Butterfly runs from December 30 to January 16
