Evan Rogister returns to the Washington National Opera to conduct a new production of Strauss’ epic masterpiece Elektra from October 29 to November 12. Richard Strauss’ dramatic one-act opera inspired by the Greek tragedy returns with a new production from Francesca Zambello.
Rogister conducts an acclaimed international cast, including superstar soprano Christine Goerke singing the title role of a daughter possessed, Sara Jakubiak as Elektra’s sister Chrysothemis, Ryan Speedo Green makes his role debut as Orest, internationally acclaimed tenor Štefan Margita appears as Aegisth and Katarina Dalayman makes her U.S. role debut as the murderous Klytämnestra. Acclaimed designer Bibhu Mohapatra returns to create eye-catching costumes for an extravagant Greek world.
