This July, Evan Rogister returns to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, leading the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée and guest soloists, presented in collaboration with the annual Chorégies d’Orange festival. Called La Grande Scène Émergente, the concert features operatic and symphonic favorites, as well as a new composition by the youth orchestra.

The July 17 performance features a number of esteemed soloists, including sopranos Susanne Burgess and Amina Edris, mezzo-soprano Floriane Hasler, tenor Julien Henric, and bass-baritone Maurel Endong. Taking place at the ancient Roman theater, the Théâtre antique d’Orange, the program features Richard Wagner’s overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, selections from Charles Gounod’s Mireille and Faust, Gustave Charpentier’s Louise, Jacques Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Titan

On July 21, Rogister leads the orchestra in a similar program, which also features soprano Amina Edris, performed at the Grand Théâtre de Provence. The orchestra will repeat the selections from Die Meistersinger vs Nürnberg, Mireille, and Symphony No. 1, and will also perform a collective composition by the OJM, featuring Edris and the Quintet. This program will be broadcast live at 8:00 pm on France Musique.
